The Only SEO Forecasting Tool Sheet You Need ?

How you can make accurate forecasts for your campaigns? Do a SEO forecast study.

You can understand the best topics to target to increase revenue or traffic.

I could not find any good forecasting tool.
Not one.
I paid for few tools, used them and discarded them.

So I decided to make one, it is a Google Sheet forecasting tool.

I have been using my own Google Sheet SEO forecast tool since early 2024:
– For revenue projections
– For my content research
– For content planning

 

How I made my SEO Forecasting Sheet Template

1 – Historic monthly traffic

Getting the previous clicks, I used a 6-12 months time frame depending on each case.

2 – Using click-through rate (CTR) data for each case

Each vertical triggers different search results and has different click rates (CTR). I took the average CTR for the most relevant results on my target topics.

3 – Regular research

Of course, I focused on revenue-driven topics that tackle clients issues and cluster them to analyze faster.

4 – Added conversion data

If you can get SEO conversion rates and the average order value. For eCommerce websites it is rather easy to get this data, for other verticals like lead-gen or SaaS, it is possible but you might need to dig in your CRM.

5 – Create a ranking matrix

There is an easy way and a better way to get this forecast done.

• Easy: rankings based on keyword difficult. Simple calculation based on a static rankings growth table.
• Better: rankings based on actual opportunities, competition & intent. Manual analysis (you need to do it anyways).

6 – Created multiple scenarios

• Ambitious: things go smooth and the plan gets executed on time
• Conservative: rankings are difficult but we still manage to grow
• Delayed: sometimes takes time to get higher rankings

You can create your own scenarios.

7 – Got the 12 months overview

As a result you can grasp the traffic wins month by month:

• EXTRA traffic and EXTRA revenue driven from your initial plan

The forecast gives you the best starting point.

A forecast is not a guarantee but it has improved 10x my SEO process.
